Cytix, a Manchester based cyber security startup, welcome’s Jamie Whitcombe-Jones to their advisory board. He joins Ben Fitzpatrick and Sam Murdoch to further drive Cytix’s recent period of growth.

The addition of Jamie brings a unique perspective through his past roles as CISO for businesses including Allianz UK and Bupa. His direct experience in the cyber security industry promises to continue to develop Cytix’s offerings to solve prevalent challenges for its customers.

On joining the board, Jamie says:

“As a CISO, I know first hand how important security testing is. Traditionally penetration testing is completed when a new application is introduced and then annually, but changes are being made to applications on a far more frequent basis. Whilst changes often go through some degree of rigour, the risk of waiting up to a year for the next penetration test to identify a vulnerability is not acceptable in today's cyber security climate.

Until now, changing how and when penetration testing is done, requires both extensive budget and introduces time into the release cycle. Cytix enables companies to modernise their approach, and therefore improve security outcomes, by focusing on the changes to applications that introduce exploitable vulnerabilities in near real time, significantly reducing the time to remediate as a result.

Technology alone cannot challenge and change the norms of how we do fundamentals such as penetration testing. It takes a company with the right passion and culture, and Cytix has both in abundance. I'm excited by their vision for modernising security testing and impressed by the leadership from Co-Founders Ben and Tom.”

The Cytix team look forward to working closely alongside Jamie, with Ben Armstrong, Cytix Co-Founder commenting:

Welcoming Jamie to the Cytix advisory board is a fantastic opportunity. Jamie offers valuable insight into our target customer base and allows us to hone and perfect our platform even further. We’re honoured that Jamie is joining us for the next stage of our journey, and together with Sam (Murdoch) and Ben (Fitzpatrick), I’m excited about what’s to come for Cytix.”
